NEW HOPEFUL YOUNG PROFESSIONALS
The spring semester of the academic year is actually full of intense emotions. On one hand, high school students are experiencing the stress of university entrance exams, while on the other hand, those who went through this stress years ago are now celebrating their graduation. There is something special about the joy of graduation. Graduation means a new beginning, a new identity, new hopes, and new young professionals. It is a wonderful feeling to share in the joy of the young people who will play a role in the future of Turkey.
The excitement of young people who have completed their university entrance exams is well known. Once their scores are out, the stress of choosing their universities and programs begins. This point is of great importance for both the individual’s and the country's future. A correct choice, made based on love for the profession, leads to success. At this point, families also have an important role to play. Students are usually aware of the scores they need and the programs they can apply for. However, they should thoroughly research the fields they plan to study. They must be guided toward fields they will enjoy and where their skills lie. If this is not done, students often face problems like retaking the entrance exams or not completing their studies on time.
For Elazığ, Fırat University is a significant opportunity. Established in 1967, it is an experienced educational institution. Fırat University has 12 faculties, 52 departments, 3 institutes, 2 vocational schools, 6 technical colleges, a state conservatory, departments for Informatics, Turkish Language, Foreign Languages, and numerous research and application centers. Young students and their families can visit the university, explore the departments, and get the necessary information from the authorities. I believe that such informed decisions will lead to success.
One area that young people and their families in Elazığ should pay special attention to is the university selection process. If the desired department is available at Fırat University, and the score is sufficient, Elazığ should be the preferred choice. It should be understood that finding a job is not determined by the university name on the diploma. In the private sector, employers care about the person’s skills and abilities, not necessarily where they received their education. This year, many young people graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering. Our young professionals were full of joy and happiness. With this graduation, Fırat University’s Civil Engineering Department has now contributed nearly 3000 civil engineers to the country. Our colleagues can be found in almost every province of Turkey, continuing to serve in their professions. I am confident that our young colleagues will carry out their work with principles of honesty, integrity, hard work, and productivity. I wish all the young professionals a healthy, happy, and successful future.
